Rebecca Handy

she/her

I work online via Zoom and also offer walk and talk therapy in person in areas around Coventry and Warwickshire.

I am a late-diagnosed autistic woman and a fully qualified Person-Centred Therapist (BA Hons, MBACP). My lived experience informs my practice and helps me understand the realities of masking, burnout, and navigating systems that often feel overwhelming or invalidating. My therapeutic approach is person-centred, warm, and affirming. I integrate somatic practices and draw on polyvagal theory where appropriate, with a focus on helping clients connect with their own strengths, self-identity, and sense of safety. My work is feminist and trauma-informed, recognising how social conditioning, gender expectations, and systemic barriers shape the lives of autistic and neurodivergent people. I offer online sessions UK-wide, and walk-and-talk sessions in Warwickshire for those who prefer being outdoors.

About Me and How I Work

I work primarily with autistic and neurodivergent women and AFAB individuals, including those navigating late diagnosis, masking, burnout, identity, trauma, and relationships. I also support autistic adults more broadly who are seeking an affirming therapeutic space.

Qualifications & Professional Background

I hold a First-Class BA (Hons) Degree in Counselling from the University of Warwick and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). My academic training was rooted in the Person-Centred tradition, which continues to underpin my therapeutic practice.

Alongside my degree, I am an accredited Autism Affirming Therapist through the Autism Wellbeing Project. I have also undertaken specialist training focused on the experiences of autistic women and girls, deepening my understanding of how gendered socialisation, masking, and misdiagnosis intersect with neurodivergence.

My professional development is ongoing and includes CPD in trauma-informed practice, somatic approaches, and the application of polyvagal theory in therapy.

Next Steps

If you feel my approach may be a good fit, the first step is to get in touch with me. I offer a free 15-minute introductory call so you can ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and get a sense of how I work.

If we decide to continue, we will agree a regular session time that suits you. Sessions are offered online across the UK, or as walk-and-talk therapy in Warwickshire. If I am not the right fit for your needs, I am happy to signpost or refer you to other therapists or services.
