Rebecca Handy

she/her

I work online via Zoom and also offer walk and talk therapy in person in areas around Coventry and Warwickshire.

I'm Rebecca, a fully qualified, autistic counsellor offering online and walk-and-talk therapy for autistic and neurodivergent women aged 16+. I specialise in working with those exploring autism, identity, trauma, masking and burnout. As a late-diagnosed autistic woman myself, I understand how isolating and invalidating therapy can feel when it isn’t designed with autistic people in mind. I offer a slower paced, non-pathologising space where you don’t need to mask, explain, or tone yourself down. My approach is trauma-informed, person-centred and neurodivergence-affirming. I welcome communication differences, stimming, processing time, and emotional repetition. I adapt sessions to suit sensory needs, executive function difficulties, and support access needs where possible. I am experienced in working with high masking women, alexithymia and women with high-functioning autism (sometimes referred to as Asperger's). I currently offer sessions via Zoom across the UK. Free introductory calls are available to see if we’re a good fit. Website: autisticwomenstherapy.co.uk Email: autisticwomenstherapy@gmail.com

Who I work with

I work primarily with autistic and neurodivergent women and AFAB individuals, including those navigating late diagnosis, masking, burnout, identity, trauma, and relationships. I also support autistic adults more broadly who are seeking an affirming therapeutic space.

Qualifications & Professional Background

I hold a First-Class BA (Hons) Degree in Counselling from the University of Warwick and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). My academic training was rooted in the Person-Centred tradition, which continues to underpin my therapeutic practice.

Alongside my degree, I am an accredited Autism Affirming Therapist through the Autism Wellbeing Project. I have also undertaken specialist training focused on the experiences of autistic women and girls, deepening my understanding of how gendered socialisation, masking, and misdiagnosis intersect with neurodivergence.

My professional development is ongoing and includes CPD in trauma-informed practice, somatic approaches, and the application of polyvagal theory in therapy.

Next Steps

If you feel my approach may be a good fit, the first step is to get in touch with me. I offer a free 15-minute introductory call so you can ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and get a sense of how I work.

If we decide to continue, we will agree a regular session time that suits you. Sessions are offered online across the UK, or as walk-and-talk therapy in Warwickshire. If I am not the right fit for your needs, I am happy to signpost or refer you to other therapists or services.
