Louisa Harvey

She/Her

Online and In person in Moseley, Birmingham.

I am a relational psychodynamic therapist who offers a less structured approach which gives you space to talk about and explore what is important to you, often in open-ended or longer term therapy though this is not a requirement. In conversation together we will notice ways in which you might give up your authority or agency, or ways in which you take more than your fair share of responsibility for things, help you to connect with what makes a good life for you on your own terms, while not losing sight of external sociocultural and political conditions that have very real impacts upon us.

Who I work with

I regularly work with autistic, AuDHD, and otherwise ND adults, as well as NT folks in Birmingham UK as well as online. My work is based in a relational psychodynamic approach which seeks to help clients unpick patterns that have become unhelpful, to work out ways of understanding their experiences in relationships, to process difficult experiences, to work out how best to care for themselves and to build or sustain a liveable life.

Qualifications & Professional Background

My training at Oxford University was in Psychodynamic Practice and included a postgraduate certificate followed by a postgraduate diploma. Prior to this I completed an MA in Psychoanalytic Studies at Birkbeck College, University of London. I have completed various CPD trainings including the National Autism Trainer Programme and Gendered Intelligence training. I am a registered member of the BACP and insured by Balens Ltd. My work is also informed by work and activism in intersectional feminist spaces, fat activism, eating disorder work, and working with those who have experienced iatrogenic harm.
