Online and in-person (Newport and Cardiff, South Wales, UK)
Who I work with
I work with autistic children and teenagers and autistic adults as well as unpaid carers and young carers. Many clients I work with experience anxiety (generalised, health anxiety, phobias, social anxiety), OCD, depression and low self-esteem and experience difficulties with their executive functioning. I work with people for therapy in-person in Newport and Cardiff and online across the UK.
About Me and How I Work
A well known fact about me is that my main special interests are baking and sharks; I've even successfully integrated therapeutic baking into my therapy practice (not so much the sharks).
As a pluralistic therapist I work from a person-centred basis integrated primarily with CBT and ACT. Each of my sessions are adapted to individual client needs but they are always collaborative and often have some degree of structure. Based on what you need I aim to provide a compassionate space for you to be heard and I will also gently challenge you.
I often work creatively but I also utilise worksheets, resources to take home and work with you to create solution focused plans; clients have told me this is helpful when working through problems with executive functioning.
Qualifications & Professional Background
I completed my pluralistic counselling degree at the University of South Wales in 2024 (Taught as an integrative therapy drawing on person-centred counselling, psychodynamic therapy, CBT, transactional analysis and ACT). I am currently completing a post-graduate diploma in CBT with the University of Oxford.
I regularly undertake specific training and CPD specifically around neurodivergence and autism, working creatively, children and young people, self-harm and suicide and anxiety.
I have previously worked and volunteered for over 5 years in children's play services, mental health teams in schools, as a counsellor in mental health charities as a support worker for children and young people with complex disabilities, with young carers and unpaid carers.
