Who I work with
I work with autistic adults who are figuring themselves out after lifelong masking that may have led to chronic illness and burnout.
You might be wondering how you can be free to be you within the constraints of societal expectations and perceived norms.
Due to my own experiences, I have a particular interest in working holistically with the mind and body to help people cope with and, hopefully, resolve emotional and physical difficulties such as chronic fatigue, chronic pain, post-traumatic stress, complex trauma, anxiety and depression.
I can support you in a way that affirms your autistic identity to become more at ease with difficult feelings and build a greater resilience in your nervous system for handling stress.
About Me and How I Work
I will support you to reconnect with the person you truly are, to build authentic relationships and create a life that suits you.
We will do this at your pace and will discover together what you need that supports you to feel safe and more at ease. I will always encourage you to ask me questions or challenge me if something does not feel right for you.
I'm a psychotherapist who will help you explore how you function in the world through the lens of your development as a child and in your relationships with significant people in your life such as parents, siblings, friends and teachers.
With empathy, compassion and non-judgement, we will look at your patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving, be curious about how they have served you and consider whether they are now getting in your way of having a fulfilling life. We might then think about what changes you could make and how you can support yourself to thrive.
I welcome all of you, who you are as an individual with your experiences in life alongside the intergenerational history that you carry within all aspects of you - physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually.
Qualifications & Professional Background
I have an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy with the approach that the client-therapist relationship is an essential aspect of healing and that our relationships and development as children affects our later relationships and how we are now.
I am also a certified practitioner in Havening Techniques, a gentle psychosensory therapy used in the treatment of trauma and the reduction of stress. It is something I can teach you to use for yourself to help soothe your nervous system when anxious, panicky, upset or overwhelmed.
I have been practising for eight years, have professional and public liability insurance and am an accredited member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy.
