Who I work with
I have a particular passion for working with those who experience the world differently. I work predominantly with Autistic and ADHD adults who are looking to explore and process who they are and who they'd like to be underneath the layers of masking and people pleasing. Most of my clients are late-diagnosed/realised and come to therapy to begin to explore their own needs and wants, and how to communicate that with friends, partners, coworkers and family.
About Me and How I Work
My approach is gentle but potent, aiming to accompany you on your journey and be curious about you, your life and what has led up to being here with me. I am very comfortable to gently challenge when it is therapeutically beneficial, as such, I am not the type of therapist to sit back and not get involved! I do however believe that you are the driver of the train, and I am here to offer you the space that you need to figure out where it is you want to go. I work in a trauma-informed and attachment aware approach, and frequently draw on concepts from Transactional Analysis to facilitate insight into your patterns of thought, behaviours and feelings. I provide a welcoming, safe, collaborative and empathetic space to explore your difficulties.
The heart of my approach lies in the power of the therapeutic relationship we build. I believe that the connection between client and therapist is not just significant, but pivotal in the process of transformation. Together, we will forge a partnership built on trust, empathy, and genuine human connection.
Qualifications & Professional Background
I am trained in Integrative Psychotherapy, which means that I adapt my approach to suit what you need. During my training at the Northern Guild of Psychotherapy the focus was on Transactional Analysis alongside Gestalt, Psychodynamic approach, Relational Psychotherapy and Person Centred Approach.
I have a Level 7 Diploma in Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy. I also hold a Level 6 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. Before entering the profession, I spent many years working in mental health, supporting those with complex difficulties.
I am a registered member of the UKCP and the Northern Guild and uphold and follow all codes of ethics. I am registered with ICO and fully insured with Holistic Insurance Services.
Next Steps
I know that taking the first step into starting therapy can be really daunting, so I provide a free 15 minute telephone call so that you can ask me any questions you may have and we can get an idea if we will be a good fit for working together.
You can contact me directly via email: Dorrie@alchemillapsychotherapy.com or by using the form on my website www.alchemillapsychotherapy.com. I usually reply fairly quickly, but do not worry if it takes a couple of days, depending on my schedule. I have spaces open for new clients currently.
The standard rate is £60 per session. I have a couple of slots left for those who cannot afford the full fee.
