Clare Dudeney

She/Her

I work online from my office the UK.

I’m Clare, an autistic and ADHD therapist with over 17 years’ experience working in a neuro-affirming, strength-based way. I work as an integrative therapist, drawing primarily on Humanistic and person-centred therapy, alongside narrative reflection, Positive Psychology coaching, somatic awareness, and mindfulness-based approaches. How I work is shaped by both professional training and lived experience. I’m interested in story, meaning, and how we make sense of ourselves over time, particularly when long-held ways of coping begin to feel unsustainable. Therapy with me is collaborative and responsive rather than prescriptive. We work at a pace that feels right for you, attending to what feels most relevant and alive in each session. As a person, I’m someone who finds grounding in the everyday and the outdoors. I share my life with four labradors, spend a lot of time walking and hiking, and believe in the quiet regulation that comes from movement, nature, and the occasional kitchen dance. These values often show up in my therapy work too, where wellbeing is understood as something lived, embodied, and imperfect rather than something to be achieved. Sessions are thoughtful but human. There’s space for curiosity, honesty, humour, and the occasional well-placed swear word. My aim is to offer therapy that supports clarity, congruence, and a way forward that genuinely fits who you are.

Who I work with

I work with autistic and ADHD adults who are navigating identity, often following a later-in-life diagnosis or growing self-recognition. Many clients are unpacking long-held patterns of masking, burnout, anxiety, and relational strain, and looking for ways forward that genuinely fit. I work online from my office in the UK.

Qualifications & Professional Background

I have over 17 years’ experience working as a therapist.

My background is integrative, bringing together qualifications and experience in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB Level 4), Positive Psychology Coaching (Level 5), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Self-Compassion practice, and Cognitive-Behavioural Hypnotherapy (UKCHH Level 4) with a focus on mindfulness and somatic work. I also have a background and strong interest in the psychological benefits of movement and embodied wellbeing.

I work in a neuro-affirming way, informed by both professional training and lived experience as an autistic and ADHD person.

My recent and ongoing research focuses on neurodivergent wellbeing from a therapeutic coaching perspective. As neurodivergent wellbeing is a rapidly evolving field, I’m committed to ongoing learning and reflective practice to keep my work informed and current.

Areas of particular interest include:
• Later-in-life discovery of autism and ADHD
• Identity grief and the rewriting of self-understanding
• “Who am I now?” questions, using story and narrative to explore identity
• Burnout, masking, and recovery
• Authenticity, belonging, and living with greater congruence
• Wellbeing that works with your nervous system, not against it

I am an accredited registrant member of The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, a member of the General Hypnotherapy Register and a member of the Positive Psychology Guild here in the UK. I abide by each of their Code of Ethics. I hold professional indemnity insurance.
