She/Her
I am available in-person at my comfortable room in New Deer North, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
I also offer outdoors sessions in the countryside around North Aberdeenshire.
Online is available for people outwith Aberdeenshire, or who feel that this is the better option for them.
Who I work with
I work with people exploring their neurodivergent experiences - be that autism, ADH, Aphantasia, S-dam, Tourettes or OCD. Sometimes we find ourselves feeling burnt-out, questioning our lived experiences and trying to better understand why we feel like we just don't fit in. We might be looking for more clarity before seeking diagnosis, or a better understanding of our ways of being or just someone to listen as we explore our thoughts and feelings.
I work with people looking for their own answers, and wanting to explore what it might be like to stop masking, let go of the anxiety and find a sense of peace in their true selves.
Autistic parents. Finding out our children may be nd can sometimes bring us to the conclusion that we might be too! Suddenly experiences start to make sense, we feel there may be an explanation for our own sensory overwhelm and meltdowns. Parenting is always challenging but even more so when you are trying to manage sensory issues, burn-out, overwhelm and masking. We can work together to help you find ways to better understand your parenting journey and be the version of you that you want to be.
With CAMHS waiting lists growing and schools offering short term one-size-fits all counselling, while more children are experiencing anxiety based school refusal, it can be hard to know where to turn for support. I am able to offer counselling or coaching that matches your child's abilities without the long waiting lists for help. Whether its finding ways to cope with the demands put upon them, exploring anxiety around school or helping your child understand their way of being, I am here to help support you both in finding a new way forward.
Couples therapy. Discovering a new understanding of one another and building a stronger, more supportive and equal relationship can challenge even the most loving couples. Together we can work to find a path to the relationship that you both want, building communication, more satisfying sex lives and the life you desire together.
Parent/ child sessions. I offer parent and child, family counselling sessions. Do you feel like you are going around in circles, that you have lost the relationship you once had, or that you both shout but no-one listens? We can work together to build communication skills, and help you both rebuild (or build for the first time) the relationship that you both want.
I work with people aged 9 years upwards, individually and with couples.
Counselling in Aberdeenshire.
About Me and How I Work
I am a Pluralistic counsellor; which means that I work with you to find a way of counselling that matches your strengths and way of being. That could be sitting talking together, exploring different skills and ways of understanding our thoughts, getting creative with arts and crafts, or working together with Momo (our animal assisted therapy support cat) or Cody (our equine assisted therapy horse).
Sessions are collaborative and we will spend our first sessions exploring what works best for you, and how we can make that happen together. It is important to me that our time together meets your needs, wants and expectations - because therapy should work with our strengths not expect us to adapt to its limitations.
Who am I? I am diagnosed Autistic and have lived experience of disability and chronic pain. I am passionate about working creatively and empathically with people to help them find the future that they want - whatever that might look like.
Couples work will be run collaboratively, and after the initial email all contact will be between yourself, your partner and me. I am sex-positive, kink/bdsm aware, LGBTQIA+ inclusive and support ethical non-monogamous relationships.
I run in-person sessions from my home therapy room in New Deer (AB53), or can offer walk-and-talk or eco-therapy in the North Aberdeenshire countryside. Cody is available for Equine assisted therapy near Old Meldrum.
I am also available for online sessions for people who are not local to Aberdeenshire or Moray.
