Who I work with
I will work with any client who I feel I have the skills and resources to support, and throughout my work have experience on working with (but not limited to):
Low mood difficulties
Anxiety difficulties
Relationship issues
Anger
Stress
Bereavement
Trauma
Pregnancy/post partum challenges - including baby loss, IVF and perinatal mental health challenges
Exploring neurodivergence
Parenting a neurodivergent child or being a neurodivergent parent
I work with many neurodivergent clients and adapt my sessions to support those in this client group. I have lived experience around various aspects relating to neurodivergence and offer a neuroaffirming space for those exploring or considering their neurodivergence.
I often work with neurodivergent experiences including late diagnosis, challenges making and maintaining relationships, burn out, masking and co-morbid anxiety and low mood experiences. I work online or in person in Kent.
About Me and How I Work
I am authentic and relational in counselling sessions, I work using integrative counselling skills. This means, I use three main approaches commonly used within 'integrative' counselling. These approaches are psychodynamic, person-centred (also referred to as 'humanistic') and cognitive-behavioural therapy principles if appropriate. This means you have choice about how you want to approach sessions, and explore the things you are finding challenging at the moment with you at the heart of sessions.
I like sessions to feel collaborative and aim to empower the client to be open and honest without fear of judgment or feeling "too much". I am open to sessions going in any direction based on what the client feels they want to explore in any given session, adapting to the clients needs.
Qualifications & Professional Background
I previously worked in the NHS using CBT principles, before training as an integrative counsellor. I have been qualified for 4 years as an integrative counsellor, and worked using CBT for 11 years prior. I have undertaken many different CPD courses to enhance on my knowledge base.
I am a BACP registered counsellor, and have indemnity insurance with Holistic services.
