Who I work with
I work with autistic adults and young people, either formally diagnosed or self-identifying. I offer post-diagnostic support, helping people make sense of their diagnosis and what it means for them, as well as supporting those who may be at the start of exploring possible neurodivergence. I can provide support around issues such as masking, burnout, anxiety, relationships and building self-worth. I also work with many parents of autistic young people around barriers to attendence and the experience of being an autistic parent.
About Me and How I Work
I am a person-centred therapist, and often bring a creative approach to my work.
I prefer to work in-person, in my therapy room in Bury (Manchester), but also see clients online. I invite clients to be authentic, to meet sensory, stimming needs, and consider the importance of communication needs or preferences. I won;t tell you that my room is a safe space, but hope that, in time, it can become one for you.
I practice in a neuro-affirming way, valuing people’s strengths and unique ways of thinking, learning, and experiencing the world. I believe that neurodiversity is something to be celebrated, rather than neurodivergence being something to be “cured” or “fixed”. I am passionate about supporting young people who face barriers to education and about supporting them, their families, educators and other professionals to understand these barriers and ways to work together to overcome them.
I work to client need, rather than a set number of sessions, with regular reviews, to ensure the work we are doing is still relevant, appropraite and therapeutic.
