Molly Marus-Quinley

North Carolina, USA - Online statewide and in person in Durham NC.

I have a particular focus on supporting neurodivergent adults (18+) in building and strengthening social and emotional attunement, processing past experiences of trauma and in developing self-advocacy skills.
I adore working with LGBTQIA+ folks and with those experiencing hormone related mental health changes due to life transitions including pregnancy, childbirth, and perimenopause.
I have also done a great deal of work with folks who are processing faith or religious systems changes, deconstructions, or leaving high control groups, and am honored to be part of those journeys.

About Me and How I Work

My approach to therapy is strongly informed by listening to and learning from advocates from the disability justice community as well as by foundations of anti-racism, and anti-colonialism.
I use these lenses to provide supports in many areas including:
ADHD
Anxiety
Autism
Depression
Grief
LGBTQIA+
Trauma/PTSD
Experiences of Religious/Spiritual Harm
Dissociative Disorders

I utilize techniques from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma-Focused-CBT, (TF-CBT), Mindfulness Based Self-Compassion, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, EMDR, and Somatic and Attachment based approaches. I practice from a trauma-informed lens that is flexible and based on the needs of each client. Particularly because of the unique needs of each neurodivergent individual, I believe that therapy should be highly flexible and attuned to the needs of each person!

Qualifications and Professional Experience

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), this in part means that my educational focus looked largely not only at the individual factors of mental health (what is happening uniquely for you and in your body) but also what is happening in the systems surrounding you (your family, community, the world at large) to gain a more holistic understanding of how to support your mental health needs.
I have been practicing in this role working exclusively with neurodivergent individuals since 2020, when I completed my Masters in Social Work (MSW) degree. I am licensed by the North Carolina Social Work Licensure Board (under my legal name, Mary Lynn Marus).

I am also certified in EMDR by EMDRIA and have been for around two years.
I am currently completing level 1 training for Internal Family Systems Therapy.

I do take some forms of insurance through a platform called Headway - plans include some Aetna plans, most BCBS plans, UHC, UMR, Cigna, and Optum
I also take private pay and provide paperwork to see folks out of network if your insurance plan is not in network with the plans accepted.
I do NOT take any Medicaid or Medicare insurance plans.
