Kyle Cleversey
Both online and in-person, providing in-person therapy in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada or online therapy through my secure video platform to clients located anywhere in Canada.
I am an Autistic therapist offering affirming therapy to clients looking to better understand their Autistic identity, process a new recognition/diagnosis of Autism, work through Autistic burnout in a way that respects their values and personal goals, or simply looking to discover new ways of living a better and more comfortable life as an Autistic person.

About Me and How I Work
I was late-diagnosed at age 37 at a time when I was already well into my career as a therapist. My diagnosis opened new opportunities for self-understanding and growth, but also radically changed the way I practice.
I recognized many ways in which the therapeutic approaches I learned in my clinical training needed to be adapted or thrown out in favour of new tools in order to meaningfully address the needs of my Autistic clients. I also understood more about why I and so many of my clients had unhelpful, difficult, or traumatic experiences of therapy in the past. This has motivated me to work continuously on creating the types of Autism-affirming therapy experiences for my clients that I wish I had earlier in my own life.
Qualifications and Professional Experience
I am a Registered Counselling Therapist with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists and was previously a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario before moving back to my home province of Nova Scotia. I received my MA in Counselling Psychology from the University of Western Ontario in 2016 and have been in regular practice since that time.
I aim to create a counselling space that is responsive the unique, indidivudal needs of each client I serve. I incorporate elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Existential/Humanistic Therapy, and approach my work from an attachment-informed and teauma-informed lens. I encourage my clients to ask questions at any time and will work to ensure you understand the therapeutic process at every stage of our work together. I strive to create an affirming & empowering space for people of all sexualities, genders, and identities.
