About Me and How I Work
Established reputation for providing culturally affirming, client-centered, trauma and attachment-focused, neuro-inclusive and strength-based supports. Kristen understands the ways intersectional identities impact people’s lives and is a staunch advocate for de-stigmatizing mental health; non-heteronormative/mononormative relationships; substance abuse and Disability rights.
Kristen engages and supports clients throughout their therapy journey with an Integrative/Multi-Modality approach, to better cater the supports and interventions to the client-specific needs, working from a “What matters to you?” vs a “What is the matter with you?” standpoint. Integrative/Relational in style.
Kristen works from the social model of disability justice and from the ND Paradigm. She is a strong advocate for all human rights and works on decolonizing her practice on an ongoing basis. She works from a critical-race, feminist and indigenous perspective.
Qualifications and Professional Experience
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LCSW and LICSW), Psychedelic Harm Reduction and Integration Therapist, and a Certified Recovery Coach (through BSAS - Bureau of Substance Abuse Services). Kristen brings a wealth of personal experience and authenticity that a formal education cannot teach.
PT Graduate School of Social WorkProfessor, trainer, clinical supervisor and a consultant. Kristen identifies as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and is Neurodivergent (AuDHD).
Specialize in ND-Inclusive adult autism assessments, using the MIGDAS-2, ACIA (Autism Clinical Interview Adults) and various other quantitative and qualitative tools. ADHD assessments are also available. Kristen is trained and certified as a Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) provider.
Versed in numerous modalities, including Motivational Interviewing (MI); Polyvagal; EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique); Mindfulness, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and Holistic-type approaches that incorporate the Whole You!
Kristen is a Foundational Member of the American Psychedelic Practitioners Association (APPA), and an Associate Member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). Kristen additionally is a member of the international AADC (Autistic Autism Diagnosticians Collaborative) and is currently working on her Doctorate of Social Work at Simmons University, specializing in the Female Autism Phenotype (FAP).
