Louise Lucas

She/Her
Online, UK based.
I currently supervise a range of professionals including counsellors, psychologists, specialist mentors and mental health professionals in HE.
I believe that many professionals who support individuals can benefit from space away from work to process events and reflect on their ways of working to ensure they are practicing safely and ethically.
As I do not currently work with children and young people in my practice I only supervise work with adults.
Who I Work With

About Me and How I Work
As with my counselling practice I believe supervision needs can shift and change over time and therefore, I endeavour to offer flexibility in how we approach sessions, to ensure your needs are being met. This will always be led by you and may include (but is not limited to) exploration and discussion of:
- Client work
- How client work intersects with your own experiences and processes
- Modality and ways of working
- Counselling theory
- Ethical considerations
- Neuro-affirming practice
- Working in private practice
- Organisational concerns and how the structures we operate within may impact on our work
- Self-disclosure, especially when living and working within the same community
- Secondary and supplementary supervision on neurodivergence
- Anything that comes up during, or impacts on, your work with clients
How we explore these and any other area you bring, will depend on what works for you. Part of each session will include a discussion of what you need from it.
I offer monthly or every other month for 60 or 90 minute sessions
I also offer consultations for professionals who do not require ongoing support

Professional Experience and Qualifications
I trained as a supervisor in 2018 at the Manchester Institute of Psychotherapy, having qualified as a counsellor in 2015 and completed my MSc Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Distinction) in 2016.
My initial training was integrative (Person-centred, Systemic, Psychodynamic and CBT). My dissertation research focused on creative expressions and identity in counselling based on my own experiences of working creatively as part of my personal development.
I have also done additional training in working with Compassion Focused Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy and a certificate in online counselling with OCST to work with voice and webcam.
I have particular experience of working with LGBTQIA+ identities, neurodivergence and in Higher Education settings having previously worked as a Disability Officer, Wellbeing Advisor and Specialist Mentor (Mental Health and Autism) in HE. Although I now work fulltime in private practice I have previously worked as a counsellor in the NHS, voluntary sector and in education.
I am currently a member of NCPS.
